From Europe to Sweden

Eminent artist and Professor Bernadette Marie Schillings is an echoing name in Europe when it comes to the idea of special aesthetics.

And the artist, who has exhibited her installations and inner space designs at various galleries and institutions across the globe, has now come to Vizag with a collection titled 'Sanctified Space', that is on display at Visakha Museum till February 12.
Travelling to India is a dream come true, says Schillings, adding, "I have travelled to villages around the hill stations of Lamba Singi and Chitapalli, where I found pleasure in the liberated skylines and the silences that reside in the pinnacles of the hills. My paintings reveal the holiness of humanity. That's why the exhibition is called the 'Sanctified Space'. My works also feature women in colourful saris, whose mannerisms and emotions are captured in a lively manner. I'm glad I'm getting to showcase my works here. I feel a sense of joie de vivre to be in India." Marie revealed that her favourite work is that of a lively and playful woman, which she worked on for almost a week.
M Adinarayana is the curator of the exhibition, which features around 150 of Marie Schillings' fine artworks, sketches and art installations, which uses different mediums, ranging from water colours and wax to oil pastels and sand paintings. Guests were seen checking out the works and complimenting the artiste.
