SC notice to Mayawati on Taj Corridor scam

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to former UP chief minister Mayawati on a petition challenging the governor's refusal in 2007 to grant sanction for her prosecution in Taj Corridor scam.
Mayawati's counsel told the apex court that it had four times earlier refused to entertain pleas on identical grounds.
The Supreme Court said it would look into the issue afresh spelling trouble for the former chief minister. Petitioner said the trial court should have proceeded with the trial against Mayawati and her then environment minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui in the scam as there was no need for a sanction.
The court asked Mayawati and Siddiqui to file reply to the petition in four weeks.
