Thief on 250th run bowled by cops!

AHMEDABAD: The thief who has broken no less than 250 homes in 20 years has been arrested by Maninagar police. This is the second arrest of Shyam Sunder Ahuja since 2012. Of these 250 thefts, 100 are in Ahmedabad alone.
Ahuja had fled from home in Chhattisgarh when he was 13 and had migrated to Gujarat. In 1992, he had carried out his first theft in Maninagar and was caught for that.
It seems, life has come a full circle for Ahuja as he has been arrested by Maninagar police again. In 2012, he had stolen gold ornaments and cash from a house in Ramol. He had been arrested in this regard and booked under PASA and sent to a jail outside the city.
After being released on January 13, he returned to his home in Mahemdabad. "On Sunday, he drove down his scooter to Shikhar Apartment in Maninagar and tried to steal from a house in the afternoon. When he was trying to break the lock of a house on the first floor, a resident of the building Amit Thakor was climbing up the stairs. Amit saw Ahuja at work and quietly returned downstairs and then called up the city police control room," said a Maninagar police official.
A team of Maninagar police and a PCR team rushed to the spot and cordoned off the building. When Ahuja realized that police had reached, he jumped off the first floor but was nabbed by the cops.
Prior to this, Ahuja has been caught by Ahmedabad, Anand and Nadiad police several times for theft. He operates alone and mainly targets high-rises where he poses as sales representatives or company executives while carrying out recce.
