Grim and Gear Box are actually soups!

This is the latest in the world of Oriental delicacies. A restaurant selling a soup by the name of 'grim' has apparently become quite a hit with 'chinglish' tourists! They found that


English-speaking tourists couldn't understand the food names and were was hopelessly lost in translation and often landed up giggling over the quirky menu. The garbled translations becoming a serious issue for business led to the idea of a simpler menu that could be clear to foreigners, reported a site. Interestingly, a salad and noodle soup has been renamed 'North Korea's Big Lift' and 'Isotherm.'

Other unusual soups from around the world:

1) Kiburu soup: This comes from the Chagga tribe that lives at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro and consists simply of made of sweet bananas and beans. And guess what? There are supposed to be bits of twigs in it too!
2) Bird nest soup: This Chinese delicacy tops the 'costliest soups' list (it can sell upto $100 a bowl!) The broth is made from nests that are made from the birds own saliva. The nest dissolves in the soup and becomes gelatinous. The soup is said to improve health.
3) Gearbox soup: Made from a bull's knee joint, this soup is stewed for 12 hours and served with rice or bread.
